Last week on my lunch break I went to my local Woolworths for sushi and a magazine.
Normally I buy ELLE, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and Instyle- but on this particular day I found myself buying a title I’ve never looked at before- RENEGADE COLLECTIVE.
The cover drew me instantly- Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Girl, ultimate blogger success story, looking as beautiful as always. I wanted to buy it just for the article on Nicole, but I also wanted to see if there were any other stories in there that would be of interest. Flicking through I found myself getting a bit excited at what I saw:
– an article on Kristie Kahler, creator of one of my fav labels Winston Wolfe
– an article on Blog School
– an article on Beyonce
DONE! I couldn’t wait to get home and start reading.
You all know about my episode last week on The Universe. Well, I think this was another one of those moments when The Universe was talking to me.
This magazine is AMAZING.
I normally skim through the articles, only reading the ones that interest me (normally trend/collection related) and I’m really more drawn to the pictures/fashion editorial content.
I read Renegade Collective from cover to cover- I mean I read EVER. SINGLE. ARTICLE.
I’m one of the freaks of the world that love high fashion magazine ads. This magazine has NONE of those.
What this magazine is about is INSPIRATION.
It’s jammed packed with entrepreneurial success stories from all over the world, covering industries from fashion to technology to travel.
From well-known personalities to those just starting out, it was a wealth of information with one clear message:
IF YOU LOVE IT GET OUT THERE AND DO IT. YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK IF YOU WANT IT ENOUGH.
Throw into that a page here and there dedicated to inspirational quotes-
movers and shakers… only those who risk going too far can possibly find out just how far one can go. T.S Elliot
and you’d have to be dead to not feel inspired.
And while I will always love my glossy fashion bibles (I am highly superficial after all), I must admit, it was refreshing to read, I mean really read a magazine for a change.
I can’t remember the last time I went to bed with my head so full of ideas, and dreams and hope.
The magazine tag line reads:
game changers | thought leaders | rule breakers | style makers
